Look up the word Gentleman in the dictionary, and there will be a picture of Brian grinning back at you! It’s been 2 weeks since you left us and I, like so many others, still cannot believe it. Since the day we met on our induction at Midcounties, you were like a brother to me. We both pulled into the car park at that weird place that was Springvale and both had the exact same look on our face....’what the hell is this place???’ From that minute on we shared our unique sense of humour and you’ve been my best mate ever since! You were the only person I trusted to look after my Mum, and I will never ever forget what you did for me and her last year. Thanks for all the laughs, tears, motivational speeches, confidence boosts, hugs, telling offs and gin you gave me over the years, and for basically being the most amazing, annoying, stubborn git that we all love so much! Until we meet again for a gin and to talk rubbish, sleep tight Big Fella. Xxxxxxx

Bri,
You were an impeccable, approachable, uber-knowledgeable, completely unflappable, most respected Manager. It all came so naturally to you, but you also worked damn hard, and your dedication was second to none. Never did you forget that you worked to get through the ranks. You could still fit in amongst any colleagues, across the board. You had your high level of appreciation for all roles - because you'd pretty much done them all. But by no means did you ever remind people of it. You just did what needed to be done, with whomever, and wherever, so wonderfully understated, humble , and without fuss. None of it was ever for recognition, you did it all because you could.
You were (quite rightly !) proud of your title, but also proud of your roots. And so very much a 'people person'
You always wanted the best for your fellow colleagues amongst the Society (whichever role they were in), and offered unwaivering support and guidance so willingly.
In fact, you were always so happy (to the point of excitement ! ) - when you could help anyone in any way. And that extended to your life outside work, too.
Not only were you my Area Manager for a time; I have also had the privilege to know you personally, when you more than welcomed me as a family member though being with Dave, and through that, instant friendship . How lucky I was to be able to know all of those brilliant sides of you.
You were devoted to Kerry, whom you utterly adored. Likewise, Kerry adored you too, and it was an absolute pleasure to see that in both of you. If there was anyone who thought love didn't exist, spending just 5 minutes seeing you and Kerry together would have absolutely proven beyond all doubt that it certainly does.
In addition to how much you loved Kerry; you loved her Parents like they were your own, and you were always there for them wholeheartedly.
Your friendships were solid. You , IJ (I'm convinced he is your Brother from another Mother), and Neen were such a joy to be around, especially to witness such a strong bond between you all. With Kerry in the mix - total fun, craziness and laughter ensued.
You worked hard and played hard .You loved life and sought out new adventures - and I loved that part of you the most.
You were highly intelligent, and always spoke with a positive, caring, enthusiastic tone regarding anything. Depending on the subject or life story, there'd be a cheeky, childlike , naughty expression on your face - which I will miss seeing immensely.
You introduced my Son to red wine- more importantly- Rioja....something he will always appreciate !
Your D.I.Y skills were amazing and will remain unsurpassed. It was another attribute you'd 'nailed' (sorry, I couldn't resist ! ) . I'm certain you would have built a whole street single-handedly from scratch. Blindfolded. And standing on your head. And that includes the road and pavement ,too.
I will treasure the memories of our family times together. I always looked forward to your huge hugs at the start and end of our visits.
Your barbeques and morning fry-ups are nearly as legendary as you are.
You truly were one of a kind, and I will miss you deeply.
Chezza xxxxxx
